Transport Work to Residence
If you are currently working for an accredited employer and have worked for at least 24 months in the Work to Residence Transport role, you may be eligible to apply for Residence under this category from 29th September 2023.
Work experience gained in New Zealand after 29 September 2021 will only be counted.Your 24 months of work can be completed in one single period or different periods and can also be completed through two or more different Work to Residence Transport roles. It can also include any parental leave undertaken.
If an applicant has worked in New Zealand for at least 24 months in the last 30-month period but has not maintained a role in a Transport Sector occupation for the full 24 months, they can still be considered for the grant of residence if they meet the acceptable work in New Zealand requirements for the balance of the 24 months in one or more of the following:
- the Green List Work to Residence visa, or
- the Care Workforce Work to Residence visa, or
- Working in New Zealand and earning at least twice the median wage.
The applicant must
- be 55 years of age or under
- meet health and character requirements for residence
- meet the acceptable minimum standard of English
- be employed permanently and full-time (at least 30 hours), or a fixed term for at least 12 months
- meet the wage threshold requirement
