Green List: Work to Residence Visa
From 29 September 2023, you can apply for a Green List Work to Residence Visa which allows you to study, work and live in New Zealand for an indefinite period of time by having worked in New Zealand for at least 2 years in a Tier 2 Green List Occupation.
To be eligible for the Work to Residence Visa, an Applicant must hold a valid Accredited Employer Work Visa on the date of making an application. If an Applicant holds another Work Visa or Critical Purpose Visitor Visa (with work conditions) which was applied for before 4 July 2022, they may still be eligible to apply for the Work to Residence Visa.
The Applicant is required to have a genuine, permanent, full-time employment (minimum 30 hours per week), or a fixed-term employment for at least 12 months with an Accredited Employer when applying for a Work to Residence Visa.
Work experience gained in New Zealand after 29 September 2021 will only be counted. The 24 months of work experience in the role must be completed in New Zealand within 30 months from the date you apply. Work experience of 24 months does not have to be obtained in consecutive months. It can also include any parental leave undertaken. For all 24 months you must have met the acceptable employment requirements, such as wage or salary threshold, experience, registration, profesisonal memebership or qualifications.

- be 55 years of age or under
- meet health and character requirements for residence
- meet the acceptable minimum standard of English
- meet the requirement set out in the Green List for their role
