Immigration
Qualifications
Working towards Bachelor of Laws
Hazel and her family immigrated to New Zealand from Malaysia in 2015 to pursue
the emerging prospects the Kiwi dream had to offer. She is currently in the second
year of her Bachelor of Laws studies with a minor in History at the University of
Waikato. Hazel joined the Sharma Law team in early 2025 to hone her legal research
and writing skills.
Hazel regularly assists our legal team with complex immigration matters, including
drafting and preparing affidavits relating to New Zealand and other jurisdictions to
accompany Section 106 (Discharge without Conviction) applications and Permanent
Resident Visa applications. She has an ardent interest in challenging immigration
cases with criminal crossover, which reflects both her prowess and zeal for lending a
hand to those who find themselves in complicated situations.
Hazel also has a natural ability to gain clients’ trust with ease, ensuring they feel
supported throughout their immigration journey. Her work encompasses a wide
range of residence and visa matters, and she remains committed to delivering clear
and strategic advice to clients over the long term.
Before studying at university and joining Sharma Law, Hazel spent five years at
Sacred Heart Girls’ College in Hamilton, where she actively contributed to her
community as a Mission leader for humanitarian relief projects.
Furthermore, she has previously worked as a Youth Advisor to the Ministry of
Education. Within this role, she advised the Minister and the Ministry of Education on
projects that had a significant influence on New Zealand’s youth.
Outside of work, Hazel enjoys watching crime drama television shows, listening to
music, and thrifting!
